FOX is a free configurable smart tracking device, which can be fully adapted to user requirements. Its main purpose is to act as a mobile client for various system solutions like AVL, fleet management, vehicle security and recovery. The device can operate fully autonomous and is able to interact using sensors and actors.

It can be adapted to existing tracking solutions and can be easily configured to gather or exchange relevant information with servers or users directly. An often used example is to send status reports or verbose alert messages directly via SMS to users and/or via TCP to tracking servers.

Users benefit most from combining comfort and security aspects – for example having regular voice calls as well as spy calls in emergency cases. Drivers logbook and data logging functionalities are combined in the Falcom history feature.

Geofencing can be used to report violations of predefined routes or areas (for example if a car enters or leaves a specific area/ no-go-zones).

All of these features are perfectly integrated in a device concept, which significantly reduces time-to-market and provides low cost tracking and security solutions.

Options

Fox has five options to choose from:
SD Card Interface: SD
sd_mmc_unmount
Data card for storing debug information and historical context.

RFID card reader, or IEEE 802.15.4 Wireless: RF / IE
media_flash_memory_stick
The RFID reader can read the ID card with an RFID chip, addressing applications such as identification of the driver and others.
The data bus IE allows wireless connection to peripherals such as KeyFob, which provides an interactive mode with the remote control device with configurable functionality, or IEEE BOX, an area with 5 digital inputs, 2 analog and 4 digital outputs.

CAN bus interface for high or low speed: CA / CH

FOX can be supplied (upon request) with a CAN interface which supports both the CAN-Bus high and low speed:
Choice (AC) Low-Speed CAN-Bus controller CAN1 (Type TJA1054A) is for use in cars:

  • Compatible with ISO 11898-3 (CAN fail mode(low speed))
  • SAE J2411 Single-Wire CAN (SWC)
  • Supports up to 125 kbps baudrate

Option (CH) High-Speed CAN-Bus controller CANH (Type TLE6250) is for use in trucks:

  • Supports up to 1 Mbps baudrate
Using the appropriate commands PFAL, STEPPIII devices can be used in applications compatible with CAN-Bus, as it is possible to define a communication baudrate CAN identifiers and filter to extract specific data it provides. The firmware of the devices STEPPIII / FOX can store up to 10 securities and send CAN-Bus via TCP to change the status of them.

Internal battery Lithium Polymer: B1 / B3
battery
Fox may incorporate an internal battery 300 mAh (B1) or a 2650 mAh (B3). The device incorporates the necessary hardware to manage load and use, and is fully configurable.
The battery option allows the device to operate extra hours in case you do not receive principal food. Although reducing the temperature range of work that can operate, it is recommended for applications where security or the device can not be connected to a constant power supply.

Wireless IEEE 802.15.4: IE
network_wireless Data bus for connecting peripherals such as wireless KeyFob, which provides an interactive mode with the remote control device with configurable functionality, or IEEE BOX, an area with 5 digital inputs, 2 analog and 4 digital outputs.

Connection for external microphone and loudspeaker: AU
audio_input_line This option comes with two cables to connect via 2.5 and 3.5 mm jack microphone and speaker to act as a handsfree voice call.

Nomenclature:

FOX < - / SD > + < - / RF / IE> < - / CA / CH > + < - / B1 / B3 > + < - / AU >
