4-noks Zigbee/Modbus Technology
4 Noks is a system of data collection and remote control handsets applicable to different fields. The product range consists of managers and network gateways, repeaters and bridges, sensors of different types of parameters and actuators.

All sensors are powered  by an internal battery that provides a range of several years. The range is complete with actuators and sensors / actuators that need external power to control relays, and others.

Gateways, repeaters and bridges allow the connection directly to a server system or directly to the Internet, increasing the distance of the nodes and connecting to external elements of the mesh. It is possible to feed these through a dedicated connector or using the technique POE.

 

What are their use areas?

  • Monitoring the gas consumption, electricity, etc. to achieve energy savings projects in domestic premises.
  • Auditing systems and energy certification.
  • And remote monitoring of parameters such as ambient light, temperature and humidity. Especially in critical environments such as museums, laboratories, hospitals, control of industrial or agricultural, etc..

How does the mesh sensor?

A ZigBee network is based on a mesh structure that can cover large areas using devices with low power consumption. Each message can be found on a dynamic path between two nodes using other intermediate nodes to relaunch the message. This ensures a high degree of reliability in communications while maintaining low power consumption.
Moreover the possibility to send data to the sensors can remotely schedule and get a great deal of flexibility.

 

What requires an installation?

One of the advantages of wireless mesh sensor is precisely the ease of installation. Taking into account a minimum set of parameters (distance and obstacles) is relatively easy to deploy a sensor network. Using repeaters and bridges can extend the maximum distance or third-party devices to connect to the network. Only devices that are able to activate relay outputs need food, and therefore, they are the only ones that require minimal wiring.

The configuration of the device is done quickly and conveniently by a switch that operates using the address within the network and identifies the device.

 

¿ZigBee or ModBus?

Both. The 4-noks product range implements the ZigBee protocol for communications management. It was created on a ModBus compatibility layer that allows the network to connect a SCADA or other application software that supports this protocol.

Thanks to this design and the use of a bridge device, other devices that operate under Modbus protocol can also be integrated into the network.


How many devices can support the 4-noks network ?

Up to 128 devices

 

Is it compatible with other ZigBee devices?


Yes, 4-noks devices include 2.0 and the ZigBee stack is constructed from Ember technology. However, by default, all include the Modbus protocol as a basis.
